Blogger Impressed with Free Legal Research iPhone App

A new iPhone app will make it possible to perform legal research just about anywhere—and both the app and the research are free.Journalist and lawyer Robert Ambrogi writes at Legal Blog Watch that he is impressed with the new app from Fastcase. “For legal research on the go, at any time, and for zero cost, this is a must-have for any lawyer with an iPhone,” he writes.“The app is easy to use and produces lightning-fast results,” he adds. The app can be used to search statutes and cases from all federal and state courts, he says. The search results can’t be printed, but they can be pasted into an e-mail and saved. Case searches may be done in natural language or using Boolean queries, while statutes can be searched by keyword or citation.Case law searches can be narrowed by date or by jurisdiction, Ambrogi writes in a more detailed review at LawSites. Results can be displayed by relevance, date or name, and they can be displayed with an Authority Check function that shows subsequent citations of cases. The Fastcase app is now available from Apple’s App Store.Related legal research coverage:ABAJournal.com: “Exclusive: Inside the New Westlaw, Lexis & Bloomberg Platforms” Updated on Jan….
