FCC to T-Mobile: Stop Lying About Throttled Speeds

The FCC has told T-Mobile that it has to start being more upfront about the data speeds its customers are receiving. From now on, the carrier will have to send texts explaining the speeds that users will actually have to put up with when they hit their data cap. As well as letting you know what speeds it will provide, the FCC has also told T-Mobile that it must send a link to an accurate speed test at the same time, too—so users can check they’re getting what they’re supposed to. Of course, it’s not just overuse that’ll get you throttled: using Torrents will, too. But at least now you’ll know what kind of speeds to expect when you do things T-Mobile doesn’t like.
