Seminoles roster takes big hit with graduation, early departures

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — A new era is set to begin at Florida State as star quarterback Jameis Winston and seven other offensive starters will not return for the 2015 season.Last week “Famous Jameis” declared for April’s NFL Draft, forgoing his remaining two years of eligibility. Winston finished his career with a 26-1 record, a national championship and a Heisman Trophy as Florida State’s starting quarterback.Winston’s top two targets, receiver Rashad Greene and tight end Nick O’Leary, are also leaving as they are both scheduled to graduate from FSU this year. Greene made the most of his four years and will walk away from the program as its all-time leader in receptions (270) and receiving yards (3,830).Outside of losing its Heisman-winning quarterback, FSU’s next biggest hit will be at offensive line. The only projected starters heading into next year with any FBS game experience are left tackle Roderick Johnson and center Ryan Hoefeld, with just nine total starts between them.
