As the countdown continues to the big reveal of the new Land Rover Defender an online ruckus has kicked-off over what appeared to be a leaked picture of its interior. The image, purporting to show the Defender’s cabin, was tweeted by a designer called Richard Charles on February 13 but was hastily removed. Mr Charles does not work for Jaguar Land Rover, his Twitter description says that he designs jewellery inspired by motorsport. The row ensued when Mr Charles was tweeted by somebody from Land Rover demanding he take the picture down. Since then the mystery has deepened with Mr Charles’ Twitter profile also deleted. A tweet to Mr Charles, now also deleted but thought to be from a member of staff at the car maker’s public relations team, said: “How about you now remove this image that you’ve publicly stated you shouldn’t post. Legal team are on the way.” The picture posted revealed a clear view of what is claimed to be the new Defender, with a very different dashboard to anything currently produced by Land Rover.
