Montgomery, TX — Corinthian Vintage Auto Racing is preparing for the March 22-24 Mike Stephens Classic at Hallett Motor Racing Circuit in the rolling Osage Hills of northeastern Oklahoma, just west of Tulsa. With the club having to cancel its April 12-14 event at Eagle Canyon Raceway due to track construction not being completed, and also deciding to delete its May 17-19 event at MSR Houston due to scheduling conflicts, the March event has big shoes to fill. And it’s looking like Formula Junior drivers are preparing to step up as VM has received word of four front engine cars planning to register — Stanguellini, Elva and two Huffakers — along with several rear engine cars. With its technical difficulty and over 80 feet of elevation change, Hallet is a great track for Juniors so we’re hoping that a mini FJ reunion might be in the cards. The event also offers a Formula Vee feature and we’ll be anxious to see if the FV racers can top last year’s 40-car grid when the marque celebrated its 55th birthday during the same event.
