It’s been yet another busy month for judges in our courts. A cocaine supply gang were locked up for plots to flood Newcastle’s bars with class-A drugs. Other criminals were locked up for violent crimes and theft. Here are 27 of those locked up last month by courts in the North East. Mark Exley and Christopher Jones Bungling gunmen targeted an innocent man in a case of mistaken identity during a botched attempt to snatch £50,000 as payback in a gangland dispute. Mark Exley and Christopher Jones believed they were shooting into the van of a drug dealer who would be in possession of high value drugs and cash. But instead they terrorised a man who had absolutely nothing to do with their murky world and was simply on his way to work on a Friday morning. Exley, 45, of Benwell Grange, Newcastle and Jones, also known as Embleton, 35, of Whitbeck Road, Slatyford, Newcastle, both admitted possessing a firearm with intent to endanger life, attempted robbery and perverting justice.
