A group of designers from Hanoi University of Architecture has won the contest to design the landmark for kilometre zero in Hanoi at the announcement ceremony on July 20. The winning design The contest to design the Kilometre Zero Landmark, a national cultural symbol and important tourist destination in the area around Hanoi’s Hoan Kiem Lake, was jointly launched on June 3 by the Vietnam Architecture magazine of the Vietnam Association of Architects and the Hanoi People’s Committee. Pham Tuan Long, chairman of Hoan Kiem District People’s Committee, said it is a part of the project to upgrade areas around Hoan Kiem Lake and a highlight of the area, further completing the landscape around the lake. The organisers received a total of 105 entries from consulting and design units, research institutes, Vietnamese sculptors, artists, and architects, and students majoring in culture, fine arts and architecture. The second prize belongs to Nguyen Hoang Huy from Danang City Nguyen Quoc Thong, vice chairman of Vietnam Association of Architects cum vice head of the judging panel, said the entries were very diverse and creative with many solutions and ideas.
