Social media is awash with short videos, but locating these outside the relevant app can be something of a challenge. However, this could be about to change. Google, the most widely used search engine on the internet, is about to get a new feature that showcases clips from Instagram and TikTok.These results will be housed under a “Short Videos” carousel beneath the search bar, akin to the ‘Images’ and ‘News’ options that are currently available to filter search results. This development was reported by TechCrunch, and has since been confirmed by many industry analysts like Brian Breisleben and the Search Engine Roundtable.Highlights from the clips will be displayed as thumbnails from the relevant social videos appearing in the search results.This feature is, however, being piloted by Google, and won’t be visible to all users, and for every search query, Google said. It is currently available on browsers or on the Google search app on Android and iOS.
