Fakemodo: Undeniable Evidence of iPhone Nano 3G ZOMG!

Here you have it. Un-de-ni-a-ble proof that the iPhone nano 3G exists. Boom. Because, if there's a knock-off, there must be a real one out there, right? Somewhere! Anywhere? Come on! Think about it, people! Advertisement Yesterday, a reader jumped on the tips line saying: OMG! I FOUND THE NEW IPHONE NANO! CHECK IT OUT MAN! THIS IS THE REAL THING! I BOUGHT THE ORIGINAL IPHONE 3G FROM THEM! AND THAT WAS REAL! THIS HAS TO BE REAL! CAN'T YOU SEE IT?!?!?! OMG! ASDADGAFAAEFGASDGADFASDHHHHH!!! I tried to put some sense into him: "Dude, do you think a chinese supplier would have an Apple phone before Apple themselves?" But he wouldn't have it: "COME ON! I KNOW IT'S REAL! IT HAS TO BE REAL! I BOUGHT THREE OF THEM FOR MY FRIENDS FROM MY HIGH SCHOOL IN TEXAS!!!" After a while, I was polite and said good night. It was Christmas Day after all. It's not anymore. [China suppliers-Thanks JC-not Jason Chen-and good luck with those amazing iPhone nano 3G with optional Java games and 64 polymorphic … [Read more...] about Fakemodo: Undeniable Evidence of iPhone Nano 3G ZOMG!

Analyst Hot for Apple Netbook at Macworld

According to speculation by Ezra Gottheil of Technology Business Research, Apple will announce a netbook at Macworld. His vision is one of a computer platform supporting the App Store: [The device] will provide Web access, email, media playing, and essential applications at a single low price. Computer beginners will be able to start using it quickly and easily. Users will have fewer questions, problems, conflicts and security breaches, as the device will be less intimidating than both PCs and Macs. As with the iPhone, iTunes and the App Store will offer an array of content, applications and games. As with the iPhone, the software can be rebuilt from the App Store. With an optional online backup service, the entire device can be restored…. Because all applications are delivered through the iTunes App Store, Apple will maintain sustained relationships with users, making it easier to upsell and cross-sell to existing customers. I Don’t Want a Bigger Moto X. I Want a Better Moto X.

Last year's Moto X is the best phone I've ever owned. It's just the right size, it has just the right features. And by the time I'm ready to upgrade, it won't exist anymore, because the way we make smartphones now is dumb. Overnight, Motorola announced its successor to the original Moto X, which while also being called the Moto X is not, in fact, the Moto X I currently own and unabashedly love. Don't get me wrong; it's by all accounts a great device. But while this Moto X inherits the spirit of its predecessor—along with its indispensable software tricks—it is and always will be an imposter. Why? Because it's bigger. Much, much bigger. Someone gave my Moto X a Super Mario mushroom, and there's no Koopa Troopa army big enough to shrink it back down. Why do we do this to our devices? Why do we change them so drastically year to year? Motorola's not the only one, and it's not only about size. The HTC One was the first beautiful Android phone; the HTC One M8 is bigger and far … [Read more...] about I Don’t Want a Bigger Moto X. iPhone 6 Review: The Phone That Lured Me Back to Apple

I'd rather get this out of the way up front: the iPhone 6 is the best smartphone you can buy. In fact, it's better than that. The iPhone 6 convinced me to switch back to Apple. It feels strange to say this, but the last time I owned an iPhone, it was a 3GS. That wasn't intentional; it just sort of happened. Like many a tech journalist, I hopped onto Windows Phone to familiarize myself better with what was then a brand-new platform, then Android to check in on its rapid progress. I stuck with Google because of last year's Moto X. And in all that time there hasn't been an iPhone so compelling that I had to switch back. Until the iPhone 6. Advertisement That's partly because of what Apple's done, and partly because of what everyone else hasn't. But mostly it's because the iPhone 6 is the single best smartphone you can buy. (You can click here for our review of the larger iPhone 6 Plus.) Design The short version is that the iPhone 6 is largely just a bigger iPhone 5S, and that's … [Read more...] about iPhone 6 Review: The Phone That Lured Me Back to Apple
