I recently decided that I would answer the beckoning call of the wild by taking my Aston Martin on an 800-mile road trip to Vermont and back. Advertisement The call of the wild is no stranger to us wanderers. It has been tempting us for hundreds of years in a variety of ways: the alluring concept of the open terrain, the enticing sound of an empty forest, the romantic idea of living off the land without any modern conveniences. Or, in my case, a mid-afternoon Tweet from a tire company. Here’s what happened. A few weeks ago, I posted a column and a video where I drove my Aston Martin in the snow. Now, I thought you guys would find this hilarious, because let’s be honest: how many times have you seen an idiot in an Aston Martin slide into a snow bank? The answer is twice, because it happened twice in that video. But you didn’t find it hilarious. Instead, you got mad – very mad – because I attempted my little snow adventure without winter tires. If I’ve seemed hard on this new round of Will & Grace, it’s probably because I love too much. I was a big fan of the original, and was disappointed that this new version seemed like a mere shadow of what came before it. The first episode really rubbed me the wrong way, as did several that followed. “Friends And Lover” is the episode I’ve been waiting for. I not only just liked it, I LOL’ed so many times. I was so impressed I had to check and see if it was written by a (fairly) new W&G writer, and it was: Suzanne Martin (who co-wrote “How To Succeed In Business Without Really Crying,” so far my least favorite episode), a sitcom vet who has written for shows from Ellen to Frasier. This episode is so full of so many zingy one-liners, that adhere so closely to these beloved characters (perfect example: Jack thinking the ice-bucket challenge was to aid the ACLU) that the episode was just a whirlwind. Twenty-two minutes went by like a … [Read more...] about Nick Offerman helps
Yelp Vigilantes Are Organizing Against Businesses in the Name of Justice
After the owner of a pizzeria said last week that he wouldn’t cater a gay wedding, a group of Yelpers took action, using their reviews to bring down the business. Not customers unhappy with the service, but social justice protesters reviewing the business based on ideology. And it’s not just an isolated case. Advertisement First, the photos on the business’s Yelp page took on a surprising change in content: And then the reviews, well, let’s just say they weren’t really about the pizza anymore. Advertisement Within days, Memories … [Read more...] about Yelp Vigilantes Are Organizing Against Businesses in the Name of Justice
