Now, I want to start out today’s discussion by first apologizing for featuring two VW’s this week. I do try to mix up makes, models and nations of origin here as best I can, but sometimes a cool car comes along and throws me a monkey with a wrench flying into … [Read more...] about At $8,000, Is This R32-Swapped 1987 VW Jetta A Total Coupe De Grâce?

When people think of post-war BMWs, the first car that comes to mind is the funktastic three/four-wheeled Isetta. But the 502, known as the "Baroque Angel," came first. Available as a sedan, a coupe and a cabriolet, we're more smitten with the 4-door. Not only is the best looking of the trio, but, well, suicide doors uber alles. Plus, it looks like a Jaguar with a VW Beetle grafted on top. More cool, it featured Germany's first post-war V8; an all aluminum baby that clocked in at just 2.6-Liters (later bored out to 3.2). Sadly, they were hella expensive and most Germans were flat broke. Hence, bubble cars. The "spiritual predecessor" to the modern day 5-series also ran La Carrera Panamericana. We love that. Kin Two brothers are on the run from a vicious criminal. Their only protection? A mysterious, possibly alien, weapon. Based on a 2015 short film, Kin stars James Franco as the villain, Jack Reynor is one of the brothers, Dennis Quaid as the father, and Zoë Kravitz as the woman who ends up on the run with them. It also has all-wheel drive for New England winters. Of course, the best news of all is that the Alltrack was available with a manual transmission and you didn’t have to get a base model car if you wanted a clutch pedal. … [Read more...] about I Need A Responsible Family Car With A Manual Transmission! The asking price for this heavily breathed upon AE86 is thirteen five - exactly the same as yesterday's Locost. Both cars offer a unique driving proposition, however their approaches couldn't be more different. That Canadian club racer was like a ball peen hammer in the hands of Mike Tyson - what with its V8 and not much else - while this Miami-based Corolla is more like a bento box full of awesome. Of course a challenge for some may be just getting the thing registered in their state - I can tell you that California would turn this blue bomb back at the border without batting an eyelash. Florida of course would let you register your grandma for the street if you so wanted, and apparently this car too has been able to make it through the DMV process there. … [Read more...] about For $13,500, Is This Corolla A Trueno Romance?
